WS_FTP versions.

The first one goes over the new workspaces features.

Workspaces is the concept of having a specific

configuration of remote and local folders and sites

Simply navigate to the folder of your choice and look at the bottom of the folder window (either remote of local). You will see summary information, such as number of objects in the folder and total file size. This feature is very convenient when determining if you have enough web space at your FTP site for all of the files that you want to upload. Particularly useful if you are uploading a number of digital photos within a folder. -->

Did you know that you can have WS_FTP Home close automatically when
a transfer completes? Or that you can have WS_FTP Home turn off your
computer at the end of a transfer? Well, you can and it's as easy as pie!

Simply select the 'Tools' drop-down in WS_FTP Home's toolbar, then
select 'Operations After Transfers' and select your preferred option. If
there's a check next to one of the options, it's selected already.

FTP TIP CONTEST WINNER

Congratulations to krazzyj. His posted tip on mass produced HotDrop
folders wins our FTP Tip contest -- krazzyj won a free copy of WS_FTP

"Navigate to the FTP site of your liking and right click in the host window.
Create a hot folder and save it locally. Now comes the real fun. Create
yourself a new folder in the folder on your computer containing your website
and copy the .FHF file there. Open the file in Notepad and modify the copy's
entry to display any folder you need access to on your server. I have
created a small collection of links for our office's web site and it has
saved me hours of navigating through the ftp server when I am trying to
upload a file. Once your hot folder is modified to your liking and saved
as a new name you can use it by dragging and dropping a file to the .FHF
link. The method of creating Hot folders is nothing new to many but the
ability to quickly reproduce many more hot folders without the need to first
navigate to the specific folder can save alot of time - especially if you
are on a high latency connection.

Example .FHF file:

localfolder=C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Desktop\Web Site\

This small text file can be re-saved to your collection folder and over a
small amount of time you too can have a HOT folder for your most
trafficked FTP areas!"

FTP TIP

This week's tip comes to us courtesy of FTPplanet community
member make:

"The WS_FTP.ini file contains configuration information especially
FTP Host/username/password which are used by the FTP client to
log in onto the FTP servers you've configured e.g. to upload your
web site.

Saving a back up copy of it each time you make changes to your
configuration will allow you to easily recover all your settings if you
have to reinstall WS_FTP client or accidentally ruin this file."
